Apple to develop "iPhone HD"

You heard right, according to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is currently developing a new iPhone to debut this summer. It is being say that the new iPhone is being manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry, the same company that manufactured all prior iPhones. There's also the possibility that 2010 will be the final year that AT&T retains its rigorous contract on the iPhone, but nothing is certain yet. We also can't help but wonder about the future of a true 4G iPhone -- will Sprint manage to grab a WiMAX-enabled version?

The next-generation iPhone would be announced on June 22nd and will be dubbed the iPhone HD. Sources say that the next model will have an A4-class SoC, a 960 x 640 display, a front-facing camera (video com. anyone?), and that iPhone OS 4.0 will enable third-party multitasking. A pretty safe set of predictions, in all, but sources have promised many things in the past, so we'll just have to wait and see.

What will it look like?

Cell-Phone Etiquette?

I found this chart while doing my usual stumble upon in my Algorithm's class. This is pretty interesting and funny. The question is, are you being rude when talking on the phone? See for yourself.

Open-Source Restaurant?

The Instructable Restaurant is the first "open-source" restaurant to be opened. "open-source" meaning that when you go to the restaurant and have a meal, you can actually get the "source code" of the dish you are eating, or even the furniture that decorates the place. The developer says that the Instructable Restaurant is a child of the Instructionables.com which: "is a web-based documentation platform where passionate people share what they do and how they do it, and learn from and collaborate with others. The seeds of Instructables germinated at the MIT Media Lab as the future founders of Squid Labs built places to share their projects and help others."
This seems like a very innovative idea that could be very helpful and "user-friendly". The real question in mind is, will the food actually be good enough for me to want the recipe?

Apple to make an "Explicit" Section in the App Store.

First, Apple made what one might call a "purge" of all apps that contained any sort of explicit material. What they did, is go through every single app and check that it did not contain wording, images, etc that could potentially be considered inappropriate or offensive. Apple decided to erase all of these apps from the App Store. It's funny this happened because one of these apps was the #1 downloaded app, The Sports Illustrated 2010 Calendar application. A couple of days after the "purge", Apple has decided to create a new section in its categories called "explicit" where developers can add their explicitly filled applications. I think Apple had no choice but to comply with some of these apps, as a lot of people have these applications on their iPhone's.

iPad components costing Apple less than $300?

The latest founding by iSuppli Corp believe that the newly announced iPad is believed to cost Apple a measly $229 dollars (for the 16GB model). This is considering the multi-touch 9.7-inch display will cost Apple around $80, while its custom A4 processor, built by Samsung, would cost about $17 per unit (Only $2 more dollars than the chip that lies in your iPhone 3GS right now). In addition, the 16GB of memory inside the iPad is estimated to cost about $29.50. If we add $10 dollars for manufacturing costs then that only brings us to roughly $229 dollars. This model is being sold for a whopping $499. Surprisingly, it is also predicted to be the least profitable model. According to Apple experts, they are expecting to profit the most from their middle model, the 32GB iPad (which includes an optional 3G radio). This mught be because it will cost them approximately $287 dollars to manufacture, and it is being sold for $729 big ones. There are rumors that Apple might lower their prices but nothing is certain as of now.

EDIT: Due to recent comments I have decided to attach a complete chart with all full list of the component costs.
